Ok… seriously… on this last day of our 5 year anniversary week… I’m thinking we need to devote a little time to some of our crazier BIG dreams.

What might they be?

Do want to BASE jump and glide like a flying monkey?

Do you want to take a month (or longer) and live somewhere else?

Have you ever wanted to drive really really fast?

Maybe it’s writing a song…

Maybe it’s taking the stage on open mic night…

Maybe it’s meeting someone famous…

Maybe it’s designing an article of clothes…

Maybe it’s…

Well… what might it be for you?

What’s one of those crazy dreams?

You know… the ones that don’t make sense.

The ones that you can’t afford right now… but you’d dare to name it anyway?

What if you just put it out there?

What’s something fun you want to do or try?

What’s something crazy that you wanted to do as a kid but haven’t thought about it an long time?

Well… what ever it is for you… today’s the day to post it on our BIG Dream Gathering Facebook Page.  And when you do… you’ll inspire others to do the same.

And… you’ll also put your name in the hat to win a copy of IGNITE… a small book to spark your big dreams!

So get to it… and please help us to spread the word too!

I mean think about it… what if we inspired the world to think of some of our crazier dreams?

What if we helped people to push their own limits… just a bit?

I have to admit… that some of my favorite dreams that have ever been posted at the BIG dream gatherings over the years have involved kids.

Whether it was Mandy Franje (Then Mandy Van Maanen) posting her dream of helping orphans in Mozambique at that first BDG in our living room… (even though it seemed crazy to her when she posted it… she was there in less than a year by the way!  Woot woot for Mandy!)

Or maybe it was just some of the kids that have come to the BDG’s to dream big!

Like 3 year old Melissa who had big dreams of rainbows and roller coasters… (Thanks to videographer and friend Brad Jorgensen for the awesome candid footage!)

Or there’s Denise Forney who in 2008 came to a BIG dream gathering to post a dream about writing songs for children and then came back to a BDG in 2010 to say that she wanted to record a CD of those songs with her kids!

Well… in both cases… she was able to make some contacts and get some freaky cool inspiration and… ta dah… she in 2011… she was able to produce “Criss Cross Applesauce” with her kiddos singing backup!

Yup… yup… those are all favorites…

But I think my absolute favorite thing… is to just see the kids come to dream BIG!

Just seeing them think about their big dreams… and talk about their big dreams… and even get some much needed encouragement for their big dreams…

Yeah… that’s the coolest!

Today’s BDG 5 year anniversary post is all about COMMUNITY!

So we’re asking you to post a big dream that you have for your community.

Now… what does “community” mean to you?

It could be the city or town that you live in.

It could be a specific group of people that you love.

It could be a geographical area.

That’s right.

We’re leaving it open… so you can… you guessed it… dream BIG!

May 16th marks the 5th Anniversary of the BIG Dream Gathering! 

That’s right… this little revolution of hope and big dreams… started in our living room back in 2006.

Think about it.  That was before the iphone… before Facebook (was open to the common person) and before Twitter.

So… we thought… in honor of that initial week long BDG in our home… we needed to dream BIG with all of you in ways that weren’t possible back in 2006!

And… we’re willing to bribe you to do it!  (How does THAT sound?!)

So here’s the deal…

This week, via our BIG Dream Gathering Facebook Page… we’re going to have a daily drawing.

At 5 pm each day… we will randomly pull a name from someone who has commented on that day’s post… and send them a FREE copy of my new book called IGNITE – a small book to spark your BIG dreams!

There’s no catch other than… we want you to dream BIG with us!

Monday, May 16th

So… this post will simply be a “warm up!”

You just need to say hello (or whatever you’d like to say) and that gets you “in.”

Tuesday, May 17th

Now… we start dreaming!

On Tuesday, we’ll ask you to submit a dream that you have for your “community.” (BIG or small)

Wednesday, May 18th

On Wednesday, we’ll ask you to submit a dream (BIG or small) that you have for a child (or the children) in your life.

Thursday, May 19th

On Thursday, we’ll ask you to submit a dream (BIG or small) that you have for yourself.

You can get as specific or stay as general as you want to! We just want you to be thinking about it and draw a line in the sand by putting it out there… in some form!

Friday, May 20th

On Friday, we’ll open up the floodgates and you can submit a dream (BIG or small)… and ANY and ALL are welcome!

Sound good?

And yes… at 5 pm on each day… we’ll randomly pull a winner out of a hat… and send them a copy of IGNITE with the goal of helping them to achieve that dream!

How does that sound?
