Sean’s big dream continues to ROCK!

Today’s featured BIG dream is a BIG dream update from Sean Moore!

You maybe remember Sean’s inspiring story from last year.

Rattlebox LIVE

He is the awesome dad, hubby and member of his small community… who had a dream.  That dream was to form a band… and rock the house. (Check out the story by clicking here.)

Now that may sound a little simple… and it would be fine if it was.  We want to celebrate all kinds of dream pursuits!  But as we talked with Sean, we found out that the “why” behind this dream… had a much deeper heart connection than just getting out with the “band” from time to time.  This dream was also important to Sean because of his sister Kendra and her battle with something called Stevens-Johnson Syndrome.  You can read more about Sean’s story in his own words by clicking here:  BIG Dream Gathering – Sean Moore -big-dream-story-2010.

Well, the update is that RATTLEBOX has continued to ROCK!

They’ve beaten the odds and they’re still having fun and rocking the house!

Now… have they signed a ba-gillion-dollar recording contract and quit their jobs?  Nope.  Sean is still a contract manager at ACT, Inc.  And the rest of the guys in the band still have their day jobs too.  But… they’re taking it to the streets.

Literally… they are touring a bit and they have a street show coming up in Mount Vernon, Iowa on Friday, July 8th!

Here’s Sean’s update… in his own words:

Since our initial gig in April of 2010, we have played 12 more gigs – a
variety of shows from benefit shows to outdoor small town festivals!
Coming up on July 8 (9PM downtown Mount Vernon, IA if you’re in the area!)
we will be playing our biggest gig to-date -  headlining Friday night of
Heritage Days, my hometown’s annual summer bash.  It should be a lot of
fun.  They close down Main St, set up a huge stage in the street and we

play the street dance from 9 – midnight.  Usually they book some very good
local bands for that slot, so we’re very excited for the opportunity!  If
you ask someone in Mt. Vernon who Rattlebox is they might actually be able
to tell you (maybe)!  We have some additional dates booked for August,
including our first venture into a “dive” bar…I’m looking forward to that
one!

All in all, the band is doing great.  We all wish we had time to play more,
but I think it’s safe to say our expectations with the band have been
exceeded.

What’s extra cool about this is that they were the opening act for the Mount Vernon event last year.  That’s right.  As they were just getting started… they went out and played a few songs before the headliner stepped up to take the show last year.

BUT this year… THEY are the headlining act!  How flippin’ cool is that?

And that’s how BIG dream journeys work.  One small but significant step at a time.  Do they always lead to BIG DOLLAR DEALS?  Nope.  (Or at least… not yet!)  Do they always have to change the world?  Nope.  But they sure can change YOUR world.

That’s been Sean’s story.  And it’s continuing to play out.

COMMENT

Why not let Sean know that you believe in his big dream?  Why not click on comments and offer him some encouragement… some ideas or heck… maybe invite him (and Rattlebox) to YOUR town to rock the house?

Oh… and lastly… you might be wondering about Sean’s sister Kendra.  Well, here’s an update on her… in Sean’s own words.

Kendra is doing great!  In fact, her inspirational story just keeps getting more amazing….

I would not say her recovery is complete.  Her skin still has some healing
to do and her eye is still at-risk.  However, since getting out of the
hospital, she’s been on a running kick.  She completed a half marathon last
year, has run many other races (5 Ks and 10Ks), and is training to run the
Fox Cities Half Marathon in Appleton, WI again this year.  Not only that,
but she is on a mission to raise awareness for Stevens-Johnson Syndrome,
the disease that put her in the hospital.

For last year’s half marathon, she organized Team SJS, a group of survivors, friends, and family from all over the United States to band together and run the race together. She has been working hard to help survivors connect with one another.  For this year’s race, she is hoping to raise money to bring in even more survivors -
this time from around the world.

How cool is that?

So… if you have some ideas, encouragement or advice for Kendra… why not comment on that too?  And we’ll try to get even more of an update on Kendra’s big dream in the days to come!

That’s it for today’s featured big dream!

Our hope is that this gives Sean’s big dream a boost AND inspires YOU to pursue some of your own big dreams… today!

Until we hit a million dreams,

Mitch Matthews
