Still wrestling with “How do I go after my dream… now?”

Last week I posted a question… "Ever feel like your age doesn't match your BIG dream?"

I heard back from a lot of you on this… and I loved your thoughts.  One stand out story was from a friend on FACEBOOK… Sean Moore.

Sean told me about his recent BIG dream journey and how it connected to the age old question of… is it ever too late to go after your BIG dreams?

See… Sean's a great guy… a husband and dad…  a professional with a solid career.  And although he can tell a great story… he doesn't demand to be the center of attention when he's in large groups of people. 

But… little did did we know… he has had a BIG dream percolating in his heart… and that has been to be a lead singer in a ROCK BAND. 

How about you? 

Can you relate?  Does your heart start to race at the thought of karaoke night?   Do you wonder what it would be like to be up in front of a crowd… bright lights… people singing along… everyone having a great time?  But at the same time… do you wrestle with the question of… how do I do that now? 

Well… Sean did. 

He stood in that tension of wanting to give it a try… but wondering how it was possible… when he already had an established… and good… life. 

You know… how do you go after a dream like that… when you're not… well… when you're not 20 anymore?

Through a string of events… Sean got introduced to a program called "Weekend Warriors."  It's where local music stores invite amateur musicians to come in, they put them in a band, they give the band a coach for 8 weeks and then they schedule them for a live gig. 

How cool is that?

Sean already had a group that wanted to work together… so they signed up… got the coaching… and… then after 8 weeks… Rattlebox (the name of the band)… well… they rocked the house…

Okay… granted the sound quality isn't the greatest… but that's not what this is about…. is it? 

Nope… it's about going after your dreams… and tasting what it's like.

And as many of you know… when you first start to go after those dreams… it might be a little messy.  It might not be convenient.  It might not be perfect.  You might not even get paid.  BUT… it sure can be fun.

Okay… I can't help myself… how about another song from Rattlebox?  This one got my head bobbin' and my toe tappin'!  Yeah… let's take a little trip down to the crossroads…

I just love Sean's story. 

He's doing it.  He's going after his dream. 

No, he didn't quit his day job.  No, a record label wasn't sitting in the audience to sign them to a 10 CD deal.  No, they didn't have mineral water chilled to a cool 68 degrees in a finely appointed dressing room afterwords.

BUT… they had fun.  They got to taste their BIG dream… AND they have chosen to keep going!  (NOTE: They did get a paid gig out of the deal!)

So, well done Sean and Rattlebox!  We're proud of you! 

What if?

What if you took Sean's story as inspiration? 

Maybe it's to be a rock star… or maybe it's something entirely different…

If you're finding yourself wrestling with the question of… "I'd love to do that… but how would I do it now?" 

What if… like Sean… you found a way? 

Sure… it might feel like a risk.  It might it stretch you.  But… just think about what it would feel like to be able to give your BIG dream a try.

Yeah… what if?

Why not dream a little BIGGER today… and see where it takes you!?!
